meet the staff

Cecile Thomas

RAD RTS ABATD AISTD & Artistic Director

Growing up I loved to dance. My parents decided to put me in Ballet classes. I trained from the age of 4yrs old to 19yrs of age at Lynn Morrison’s School of Ballet School.

I was a part of many performances and competitions throughout Canada the United States, England and Scotland. While dancing at Lynn’s we were also invited to Dance at a Royal Gala in England. We were lucky to take part in Ballet Company Dance classes in London England and Manchester.

While attending the Ryerson Dance program, I received instruction from Nadia Potts, a soloist from the National Ballet Company for 12 yrs. I achieved my Elementary Exam Certificate for National Dance.

After starting my family, I achieved my Teachers Certification through the Royal Academy of Dance three year training program. Since then I have been preparing and entering students into their RAD exams.

I am always improving my knowledge of Teaching and Ballet by participating in Master classes and Teachers Workshops. So I can create strong/beautiful dancers!

In the summer of 2010 I participated in a Master Class and Repertoire Class with Frank Augustyn. I loved every minute of it!!!

With all my experiences and knowledge I feel that I can give the best to my students at Citrus Dance Inc.

Brooklyn Mackie

Acro/Jazz/Hip-Hop

Brooklyn’s journey into dance began at age 10, following a childhood immersed in sports and time spent at her family’s business, Bigtyme Boxing & Fitness. As a former student of Citrus Dance Inc. from age 10 until graduation, she quickly developed a passion for acro and hip hop, excelling in both. By 13, she earned her ADAPT Assistant Teaching Certificate, showcasing her early commitment.

In 2015, she performed at the Athletes Village during the Pan Am Games in Toronto, ON, an experience that stands out in her career. She then continued her formal dance training at Mayfield Secondary School of the Arts, where she studied a range of styles, including jazz, modern, ballet, and musical theatre, along with dance history and anatomy.

Throughout her training, Brooklyn had the opportunity to learn from renowned choreographers like TWITCH, Allison Holker, STIXX, NappyTabs, and Cyrus, through various workshops. At 16, she received a full scholarship to an LA Summer Intensive, where she trained with top choreographers and performed at the Carnival showcase. She later earned her Acro Module 1 Teacher’s Certificate, further expanding her qualifications.

In 2020, Brooklyn choreographed a music video for YouTuber Adelaine Morin, showcasing her creative vision and versatility. With expertise in acro, hip hop, jazz, and contemporary, her teaching style reflects her diverse training.

Brooklyn’s dedication and passion for dance inspire every student she works with. As part of the Citrus Dance Inc. staff, she is excited to continue sharing her love for the art form.

Emily Raine

Dance Instructor

I started dance career at the Brampton School of dance and then joined Citrus Dance in 2017 and have been on the competitive team for 7 years. I have competed in Jazz,Ballet,Acro and Contemporary. Over the years I have been able to attend many dance workshops to improve my dancing and teaching techniques. I have been a teacher at Citrus since 2023 and I have found a passion for teaching and creating a fun class for students. Currently I am in my second year of Kinesiology at the University of Guelph-Humber. This program has given me a deeper understanding of how our muscles work together when dancing and how certain exercises are able to improve a dancers strength and technique. I feel this allows me to teach my students what muscles should be activated when dancing and also how to properly move their body to minimize injury.
